Our Program

Every child’s learning is individualized.

Students progress through levels of learning, not grade levels.

Class size: maximum of 12 explorers.

Multiage Learning.

No homework, tests, or grades.

Minimal technology.

Field Trips and community service projects.

  • Explorers do not learn only from peers their same age but from a variety of ages around them. Students will be working on skill levels appropriate to their individual needs, not grouped be age.

  • We use a secular, immersive curriculum that allows children to use the outdoors, hands-on projects, and beautiful literature to build their own love of learning.

  • At CCS, we prioritize your family and strive to include you into your Explorers' educational journeys by inviting you to take part in a variety of school events, like nature lunches and Expeditions (field trips), project celebrations, and holiday celebrations. We will ensure that you are informed about what is happening at CCS and with your child(ren), and we are committed to building strong relationships between Guides, Explorers, and your entire family.

  • Explorers spend time outdoors daily, in all (safe!) weather. We start our day with a morning walk and time outdoors. Students will have an hour of lunch/free play time outside. Our afternoons will be spent with immersive unit studies, outdoors as much as possible for each unit.

Friday Schedule “Discovery Days”

Fridays are Discovery Days at CCS and we will have a modified schedule! We look forward to taking our Explorers on Expeditions (field trips) and/or welcoming guest community members to share their knowledge and experiences with us at CCS to enhance our learning. Fridays are also the days designated to work on Passion Projects- projects on topics that they are interested in that may not have been covered during the rest of the week or term.

  • Ages 5-7
When children enter school for the first time, they are eager to learn about the world around them. We are here to show that love of learning how to grow, how to sprout.

  • Ages 8-11
As students learn who they are, they start becoming interested in topics and projects that bring them joy. We are here to show them how to find those passions and start scouting their own learning journey.

  • Ages 12+
    (Coming in later years!)

Students who have had a foundation in core knowledge and who have developed a love of learning, are ready to take on a world of learning and become experts in their areas of interest.
